Stephen McLeod has extensive experience in ophthalmology, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Academy of Ophthalmology since March 2017. Additionally, McLeod holds the position of Editor in Chief for the journal Ophthalmology and is a Professor and Chair Emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco since January 2022, following a tenure as Professor and Chair of the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology from 2005 to November 2022. Prior to these roles, McLeod worked as a Senior Medical Consultant at Visiogen, Inc. from 2001 to April 2010. McLeod’s educational background includes a degree from Dartmouth College and medical training at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
