Phillip Edwards is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in finance and commercial leadership. Presently, Phillip serves as the Commercial Director and Chief Financial Officer at AARNet Pty Ltd since October 2011. Prior to this, Phillip held the role of Executive Director at Landis+Gyr from March 2003 to July 2011, and General Manager of Corporate Development at Vodafone Pacific, where responsibility included overseeing mergers and acquisitions in South East Asia and Australia. Significant achievements include leading due diligence for a $200 million acquisition of an ASX listed company and developing a commercial model that secured a $40 million annual account. Phillip's career also includes key financial roles at Vodafone Australia and New Zealand, as well as consulting positions at Deloitte Australia and Deloitte Consulting. Phillip holds a Master of Economics in Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from UNSW.

AARNet provides high-capacity, leading-edge networking and communications services to the nation's universities, health and other research organisations, schools, vocational training providers and cultural institutions. Over two million end users access the network and services through shareholder and other customer institutions. AARNet has been effective in making representations to government on policy, legislation, strategy and programs to improve the telecommunications facilities and services available not only to the education and research sector but also to the whole Australian community.
