Jun Ding

Jun Ding is a Senior Product Development Engineer II at Abiomed, focusing on next-generation Impella pumps and managing product-related research projects with university collaborators since January 2022. Previously, Jun served as a Senior R&D Engineer at Abbott from September 2016 to January 2022, working on the development of the HeartMate PHP catheter-based percutaneous heart pump. Earlier experiences include research roles at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center and the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute at the University of Louisville, where projects involved shear-affected platelet adhesion and ventricular assist devices. Jun completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, studying blood pumps and hemolysis, and holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design, respectively.
