Catherine Zhang has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Catherine is currently the Head of Content Service & Partnership at TCL North America, a position they have held since September 2020. Prior to this, Catherine held multiple roles at Access Corporate Group, starting as the Director of International Expansion from September 2020 to January 2023, and then transitioning to become the Director of US Distribution & Digital Marketing from January 2023.
Before joining Access Corporate Group, Catherine was the CEO and Co-Founder of YUME Cosmetics from December 2017 to May 2020. At YUME, they co-founded the company with beauty influencer Michelle Phan and led a team of 20 people. They created the largest US-Asia beauty influencer community, utilizing the power of social media to incubate brands and drive e-commerce sales. Catherine successfully distributed 8 US brands to China and 3 Chinese brands to the US, contributing to $30 million in annual sales.
Prior to YUME Cosmetics, Catherine worked at Alibaba Group as the Director of International Content Cooperation from October 2014 to November 2017. Catherine played a crucial role in developing and managing content partnerships with world-class creators and studios, generating 1 billion monthly views and $30 million annual monetization revenues for Alibaba's streaming platform, Youku Tudou.
Catherine also served as the Senior Content Manager at YOU On Demand from July 2011 to September 2014, where they developed content strategies and programming for mobile and OTT applications. Catherine played a pivotal role in bringing Hollywood films to China before anywhere else in the world.
Additionally, Catherine worked as a Digital Marketing Assistant, Exercise TV Network at NBC Universal from May 2010 to November 2011. Catherine managed the social media voice of ExerciseTV, distributed contents on top Asian digital and TV platforms, and drove traffic to increase store sales.
Their earliest work experience was with Phoenix TV, where they worked as an Associate TV Producer from August 2007 to February 2010.
Catherine Zhang pursued their Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting & TV Journalism from the Communication University of China from 2003 to 2007. After completing their undergraduate studies, they continued their education at the same university and earned a Master's of Arts (MA) degree in Broadcasting and TV Journalism from 2007 to 2009. Later, Catherine attended the University of Southern California from 2009 to 2011 to further their education in Communication Management, where they obtained a Master's degree.
