ACLU of Ohio
Melekte Melaku is an experienced organizing strategist currently working at the ACLU of Ohio since January 2018, where responsibilities include executing statewide campaigns for pretrial reform and managing various initiatives such as the bail reform podcast "The Steep Road to Freedom." Previous roles include serving as a policy associate at the ACLU, developing advocacy plans to end cash bail, and coordinating public education efforts. Additionally, Melekte worked as a public safety coordinator for Justin Bibb's mayoral campaign and held positions with City Year, Ohio Citizen Action, and Obama for America, gaining extensive experience in community organizing and advocacy. Education was completed at Case Western Reserve University.
