Pulakesh Mukherjee

Pulakesh Mukherjee is a distinguished co-founder and managing partner at Imperative Ventures, specializing in providing strategic capital and expertise to hard tech decarbonization startups since December 2019. In addition, Mukherjee serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University's Doerr School of Sustainability. Prior experience includes a decade as a principal at BASF Venture Capital, focusing on chemistry-related innovations, and multiple board positions at companies such as ESS, Inc., Solidia Technologies, and Allylix. Mukherjee holds a PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University and has completed postdoctoral research in asymmetric synthesis at the University of Basel, further enhancing a solid educational foundation from prestigious institutions including IIT Kanpur and UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
