Karl Schuetze, PhD, PE, serves as Principal Engineer at Active Power, where expertise in the company's flywheel motor-generator design guides product development and technical leadership. With a substantial background in engineering management, Karl previously held the role of Vice President of Engineering, overseeing an Engineering Department of approximately 20 staff while managing product support and development across various disciplines. Karl also led the Mechanical Systems Group, focusing on mechanical component development and cost reduction efforts, and contributed to pivotal projects as a Development Engineer. Prior experience includes work as a Controls Engineer at Advanced System Integration Corp., specializing in programming and troubleshooting process control systems in semiconductor manufacturing. Academic credentials include a PhD and MS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and Arlington, respectively, along with a BS from Virginia Tech.
