Murthy Kotra began their work experience in 1995 at Dr. Reddy's Foundation, where they worked as a Senior Research Associate for nine years. Murthy then joined Orchid in 2004 as an IPM (Intellectual Property Manager) for two years. In 2007, they moved to Dow Chemical as an IC Manager and worked there for five years. Since 2012, they have been working at Aditya Birla Group as the Head of IP Strategy & Benchmarking.
Murthy Kotra holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, which they earned between 2007 and 2015. Murthy also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Organic Chemistry from the National Institute of Technology Warangal between 1993 and 1995. Additionally, Kotra earned a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from Osmania University from 2007 to 2010. In 2015, they completed an Executive Education Program in Knowledge Management at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
