Doug Monro has extensive work experience in various industries. Doug co-founded Adzuna, a search engine for job ads, where they served as the CEO. Doug was also a Non-Executive Director at Smart Sensors Ltd, a biometrics business, and helped the business successfully sell to Fotonation / Tessera Technologies. Monro was a Non-Executive Director at iAnnounce, which was later sold to Legacy.com. Doug served as the Chief Operating Officer at ZPG Plc, where they played a key role in building the team, integrating acquisitions, fundraising, and leading the day-to-day business operations. Monro was the Managing Director of Gumtree.com and later served as the Head of Operations (COO), overseeing various departments. Doug had a role at eBay UK as a Senior Manager in Strategy & Analysis, reporting to the CFO and working closely with the CEO. Monro started their career as a Strategy Consultant at Bain & Co and also founded a consumer finance web start-up called Moneybags.co.uk. Doug began their career as a Finance Manager at Unilever.

Doug Monro earned an MBA with distinction in Entrepreneurship from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, attending from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they obtained a BA in English from St John's College Cambridge, completing their studies from 1993 to 1996. In terms of additional certifications, they successfully completed the "Learn to Program: The Fundamentals" course from Coursera in November 2012, followed by "Computer Science 101" in June 2012.
