Baron Johnson

Baron Johnson is a highly experienced aerospace engineer specializing in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), currently serving as Chief Engineer for the MacCready Works Novel UAS at AeroVironment since November 2023. Concurrently, Baron holds the position of Adjunct Faculty at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where responsibilities include developing and instructing UAS-related courses. Previous experience includes over a decade at Dynetics, where Baron was Principal UAS Aerospace Engineer and Air Vehicle Development & Test Branch Manager, overseeing 13 engineers and leading unique UAS programs for various Department of Defense applications. Baron’s early career involved research at the University of Florida, where expertise in path planning for unmanned vehicles and development of autonomous aircraft was cultivated. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Dynamics, Systems, and Controls from the University of Florida.
