Susan Ayer

Susan Ayer is a highly experienced mechanical engineer with a diverse background in aerospace, medical devices, and renewable energy systems. Currently serving as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at AeroVironment since July 2018, Susan has been instrumental in designing mechanical components for solar power and battery systems for stratospheric aircraft, while also managing the solar assembly team during prototype builds. Prior to this role, Susan held senior engineering positions at Biosense Webster, Zodiac Inflight Innovations, Suncore Photovoltaics, Soliant Energy, and others, where responsibilities included designing mechanical systems, managing cost reduction projects, and overseeing production processes. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
