Ned Cleland has a significant background in structural engineering, particularly in precast and prestressed concrete design and seismic design. Ned has held various leadership roles throughout their career, including Executive Principal and Director of Precast and Prestressed Engineering at AG&E. Additionally, Cleland served as President at Blue Ridge Design, Inc. and Blue Ridge Design for a considerable period. Ned also worked as Vice President of Engineering at Shockey Industries, Inc. for three years. Throughout their career, Cleland has showcased their expertise through their co-authorship in the field of seismic design.
Ned Cleland obtained their Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering as well as their Master of Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 1969 and 1974. Subsequently, they pursued their Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering at the University of Virginia from 1977 to 1984.
