Matthew Ranson has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. Matthew is currently serving as the Director of Data Science at agilon health since 2022. Prior to this, Matthew founded Blue Globe, a machine learning start-up focused on finding deer ticks that cause Lyme disease using a smartphone camera. Matthew secured a patent for the computer vision IP and trained and deployed an object detection model using Tensorflow and AWS Lambda. Matthew also worked at athenahealth, where they held multiple positions, including Data Scientist, Principal Member of Technical Staff, and Lead Member of Technical Staff. Matthew led data science teams, trained deep learning models, and deployed successful ML microservices supporting voice ordering for doctors and entity extraction from insurance card images. While at Abt Associates, Matthew served as an Associate/Scientist, leading a successful technical proposal for a $23 million EPA contract and managing research projects for clients. Matthew also worked as a Senior Analyst. Matthew began their career as a Research Assistant, Associate Analyst, and Analyst at Abt Associates, gaining valuable experience in the early years.

Matthew Ranson earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy and Economics from Harvard University in 2002. Matthew then continued their education at Harvard, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Public Policy in 2012.
