Jón Tómas Grétarsson has a long and varied work experience. Jón Tómas began their career in 2005 as a Co-term at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. In the same year, they also worked as a Summer Intern at Intel Corporation, where they developed XML-aware routing software and became an expert in IXP-C. In 2006, they returned to MIT Lincoln Laboratory as a Summer Intern. In 2007, they worked as a Summer Intern at Google, where they implemented an algorithm involving a one-pass log-storage algorithm for counting the frequency of strings and designed and implemented an email bounce tracker. Jón Tómas also worked as a Research Assistant at Stanford University, where they developed numerical methods for the simulation of compressible and incompressible fluids and interfaces within PhysBAM and developed numerical methods related to embedded interface tracking and simulation of compressible flows and fluid-structure interfaces within Aero-F. In 2012, they worked as an Architect, Principal Member of Technical Staff, Lead Member of Technical Staff, and Software Engineer at SalesforceIQ. In 2017, they worked as a Teammate, Principal Architect at Progressly (acquired by Box). In 2018, they worked as Director of Engineering and Sr. Staff Engineer at Box. Finally, in 2021, they worked as a Teammate, Engineering at Airkit.
Jón Tómas Grétarsson attended Stanford University from 2007 to 2012, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computational and Mathematical Engineering. Prior to that, they attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science.
