Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait - Egypt, Islam drives IT strategy to align with organizational goals and fosters a digital vision through collaboration with senior leadership. Prior to this role, Islam held several positions at CIB Egypt, including Head of Infrastructure Management, where responsibilities included building a competitive and agile infrastructure and leading technology operations. Earlier experience at IBM involved providing critical support and guidance for hardware systems and customer care. Islam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Electronic Engineering from The Faculty of Engineering at Helwan University.

The bank was originally founded in Egypt in 1978 under the name of Alexandria Kuwait International Bank (AKIB). AKIB was one of the first private banks in Egypt and was later re-branded to Egyptian Commercial Bank. In 2005, Piraeus Bank Group acquired Egyptian Commercial Bank and changed the name into Piraeus Bank Egypt.
