Richard Giragosian

Richard Giragosian serves as a freelance contributing analyst for Asia Times since October 2018, focusing on political, economic, and security developments in Armenia and the South Caucasus, as well as issues concerning China, Japan, Turkey, Iran, and Russia. Additionally, Richard has been a freelance contributor for Al Jazeera Media Network since June 2014 and holds the position of Director at the Regional Studies Center, an independent think tank founded in 2012 that emphasizes strategic analysis and policy development in the region. Richard also works as a Senior Expert at the Centre for European Studies at Yerevan State University, with past contributions to Oxford Analytica and the Asian Development Bank as a consulting analyst. Prior to these roles, Richard directed the Armenian Center for National and International Studies, contributed to Jane's Information Group, and provided analytical support for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, while also serving as an instructor for the US Army Special Forces. Richard completed studies at the University of Rhode Island from 1982 to 1986.
