Jake Magner

Jake Magner is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in data analytics and search technology. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Alation since September 2013, Jake has spearheaded the development of engineering leveling frameworks and has played a pivotal role in building out search and data discovery functionalities. Previous roles at Alation include Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, and Software Engineer, where contributions included a significant architecture migration and the foundational development of a data catalog. Prior to Alation, Jake achieved notable success as a Kaggle competitor and served as a Data Scientist at Gild, where responsibility included the core predictive algorithm known as the Gild Score. Jake began a career in management as a Branch Manager at College Works Painting, achieving high revenue performance. An alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, Jake holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research.
