Ian McNamara has over 20 years of work experience in various roles related to health and safety, compliance, and vocational training. Most recently, they worked as a Lead Auditor at Alcumus, starting in 2022. Prior to that, they were employed at Associated British Ports as an ABP from July to November 2022. From 2019 to 2022, Ian worked at SVT Ltd ~ Specialist Vocational Training as a Health & Safety Department Manager & NVQ Assessor, where they were responsible for implementing and developing health and safety management systems. Ian also served as a SHE Compliance Advisor at Costain Group PLC on a specific project in 2019. Before that, Ian held positions at CPL Industries, Promanex (Now Costains), Abbey Pynford, Delta Catalytic, and The Weir Group PLC, where they gained experience in production operations, hot work control, piling operations, machining, and fitting.

Ian McNamara attended North Lindsey College from 1993 to 1997, where they received a City & Guilds degree in Mechanical Production Engineering. Ian furthered their education by completing a Diploma Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice from The City and Guilds of London Institute and a NEBOSH General Certificate Level 3 from NEBOSH. Ian also holds a Level 6 Diploma (Bachelors Honors Degree) in Occupational Health and Safety Practice from ProQual. Additionally, in 2022, they received a CQI IRCA Lead Auditor certification in Management Systems from Alcumus.
