Principal Data Engineer at Ayvens

Richard B. has a diverse work experience starting in 2000 as an Internet programmer at BPi, where they worked on programming internet applications. From 2010 to 2015, they were a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam, conducting research on information retrieval and specialized search engines. Richard then joined Luminis as a Search & Data Engineer, working as a data scientist and software developer, focusing on churn prediction, NLP, recommendation systems, and text categorization. In 2019, they transitioned to LeasePlan as a Senior Data Engineer, where they set up infrastructure on AWS, coded data pipelines, and orchestrated them using Airflow. Richard later became a Principal Data Engineer at LeasePlan, taking on more consultative roles, leading design sessions, code reviews, and mentoring. Currently, Richard is continuing their role as a Principal Data Engineer at Ayvens, where they are involved in a challenging digital transformation and integration effort, as well as migrating workloads to a new landing zone environment.

Richard B. completed a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen from 2003 to 2010. Richard also obtained the AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification from Amazon Web Services in November 2019.
