Magnus Koch has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Magnus began their career in 2003 as a tour guide at Nordisk Film and then worked as a graphic designer and technician at Nimbus Film from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, they joined Enwire as a student .NET developer, where they researched and implemented various techniques for facial recognition software. Magnus then joined Pekunu (Saxo Bank) in 2010, initially as a .NET developer and later as a lead developer. At Pekunu, they developed an award-winning interface for stock information and implemented a flash client backed by a .NET server.
In 2012, Magnus joined Serious Games Interactive as a computer graphics engineer. During their time there, they worked on the development of Vistra, a training simulation tool for the automotive industry. Magnus implemented various features such as a real-time render system for large geometry, physically based rope simulation, and advanced ocean material. Magnus also optimized shaders and rendering and contributed to maintaining a reliable codebase for larger projects.
In 2016, Magnus moved to Alexandra Instituttet as a computer graphics engineer. The details of their work there are not provided.
Most recently, Magnus joined IO Interactive in 2018 as a research and development engineer. Magnus is involved in researching and implementing character animation and control systems in the Glacier 2 engine. Using machine learning and physically based modeling, they contribute to advancing the state of the art in animation for projects such as HITMAN and James Bond.
