Alice & Bob
Engineering · Paris, France
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems. The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously! We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing 100 million USD of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology. Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!
Inside the Quantum Hardware department, the Nanofabrication team is in charge of producing the superconducting circuits that serve as a basis of our quantum computer. The manufacturing process involves using thin film deposition and patterning methods (evaporation, etching, lithography…) performed in a cleanroom environment. The team is in charge of developing and improving the process, and manufactures the prototype chips of the company.
As a Nanofabrication Process and Tool Qualification Engineer, you will have two main missions : - You’ll participate to the fabrication and characterization of the superconducting circuits. - You’ll be in charge of the qualification of the process equipment we will install in our new clean room facility, covering the different steps of the process. The crux of building a Universal Quantum Computer is the quality of its individual components, the qubits. In this context, you will have to master advanced fabrication and characterization techniques to reach state-of-the-art performances. You will also work in close collaboration with our team of quantum physicists and microwave engineers to identify and pursue new development approaches. The job implies frequent trips to partner technology platforms (Saclay, Paris) and in our future cleanroom during the setup phase (Paris 1st north crown).
Responsibilities:
Fabricate superconducting circuit in a clean room environment.
Perform characterization of manufactured devices (SEM, AFM, XRD ….)
Participate to the improvement of the current fabrication process to increase the “quality” and the “reproducibility”.
Organize the factory acceptance test, the hook-up phase and site acceptance test (if applicable) of the tool we will install in our new clean room facility.
Establish process and documentation, to put the equipment “in production” at Alice&Bob
A phd or master’s degree in nanofabrication, physical characterization, semiconductors or equivalent
Several years of cleanroom experience
Significant experience in nanofabrication tools qualification
Significant experience with optical lithography, electron beam lithography, wet and dry chemical etching, thin film deposition
Knowledge of material and device characterization methods
Nice to have: Experience in fabricating superconducting circuits based on Josephson Junction, AirBridge, TSV and Flip-Chip process.
