James Sherk

James Sherk is the Director of the Center for American Freedom at the America First Policy Institute, a position held since March 2021. Previously, Sherk served as a member of the U.S. President's Council on Improving Federal Civic Architecture for a brief period in early 2021 and worked in various roles at the Executive Office of the President, including Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and Labor Policy Advisor from January 2017 to January 2021. With a robust background in labor economics, Sherk was a Research Fellow and Senior Policy Analyst at The Heritage Foundation from 2007 to 2017, recognized as an expert in labor markets and policy. Sherk earned a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Rochester and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics from Hillsdale College.
