Brent Orrell

Brent Orrell currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a position held since February 2018, following roles as a Resident Fellow and Visiting Fellow. With extensive experience in policy leadership, Brent was Vice President at ICF International from January 2009 to May 2021, where key responsibilities included providing oversight for workforce development and human services programming. Brent also served as Senior Vice President of Federal Human Services at The Lewin Group, leading a team to secure over $4 million in projects within nine months. Previous positions include Acting Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Labor, overseeing the federal Workforce Investment Act system, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and External Relations at the US Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, where management encompassed a $46 billion agency. Brent's career in public service began in the US Senate, where multiple roles as Legislative Assistant were held from 1987 to 1996. Brent Orrell holds a BA in History from the University of Oregon, earned between 1981 and 1986.
