Scott Winship

Scott Winship is a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute since September 2020, where Scott also serves as a Resident Scholar and Director of Poverty Studies. Previously, Winship was the Executive Director and Project Director at the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee, overseeing initiatives related to social capital and economic mobility under Senator Mike Lee from February 2017 to September 2020. Winship's prior roles include Visiting Fellow at The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, Fellow at The Brookings Institution, and Research Manager at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where responsibility included developing the research agenda for the Economic Mobility Project. Winship has also held positions as Senior Policy Advisor at Third Way and Managing Editor at The Democratic Strategist. Winship holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy from Harvard University and a BA in Sociology and Urban Studies from Northwestern University.
