Joe Messersmith has extensive work experience in the hydroelectric industry. Joe began their career at American Hydro in 2002 as a Fabricator/Assembler and later became a Fabrication Supervisor. In 2013, they joined American Hydro Corporation as a Production Coordinator, and later took on roles as a Project Coordinator and Project Manager. In 2022, they returned to American Hydro as the VP of Field Service and Project Management.

Joe Messersmith attended Spring Grove Area High School but did not obtain a degree or specialize in any particular field of study. In addition to their high school education, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in July 2017 and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from the same institution in May 2015.
