Cathy Hubbs is an accomplished information security professional with extensive experience in academic institutions and security councils. Currently serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at The American University since July 2007, Cathy leads the Information Security team, developing and implementing security programs while enhancing university-wide awareness and education. Cathy has been a member of the Educause HE Information Security Council since April 2009, taking on leadership roles including Chair from 2013 to 2016. Previously, as Director of IT Security at George Mason University, Cathy established a sustainable security program and coordinated community training events. Academic credentials include a Master’s in Instructional Design from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s in Information Systems from Strayer University-Maryland, complemented by a coaching certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.
