Amherst H. Wilder Foundation
Armando Camacho is the president and CEO of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation. He leads the organization’s work to improve lives today and for generations to come through services, research and community building. He is the seventh president in the foundation’s 114-year history.
Armando is an experienced nonprofit leader with deep connections to Saint Paul. Prior to joining Wilder, he served as president and CEO of Opportunity Partners, one of Minnesota’s largest nonprofit organizations providing job training, employment and residential support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Formerly he served as President of Neighborhood House where he led a strategic redesign and expansion of programs to better support the housing, education, wellness and basic needs of the Saint Paul community. He began his career in education and has held multiple leadership roles in both the Saint Paul and Minneapolis Public School districts.
Armando was born in Puerto Rico and came to St. Paul’s historic West Side at the age of six. He graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in special education and earned a master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University. He has earned awards from St. Cloud State University for excellence in teaching and from the Minneapolis School District for outstanding leadership. Armando was among 30 Minnesota leaders chosen to serve on Governor Walz’s One Minnesota Transition Advisory Board. His current board service includes the Bush and Mardag Foundations, Regions Hospital and Friends of the St. Paul Public Libraries. His past non-profit board service has included: Greater Twin Cities United Way, MAP for Non-Profits, Children’s Theatre Company, Charities Review Council, and Academia Cesar Chavez, among others. He lives in Mounds View with his wife, Angela, and their two children.

The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation is a nonprofit health and human services organization that has served the greater Saint Paul, Minnesota area since 1906. The mission of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation is to promote the social welfare of persons resident or located in the greater Saint Paul metropolitan area by all appropriate means including: relief of the poor; care of the sick and aged; care and nurture of children; aid of the disadvantaged and otherwise needy; promotion of physical and mental health; support of rehabilitation and corrections; and provision of needed housing and social services all without regard to, or discrimination on account of, nationality, sex, color, religious scruples or prejudices.
