Cicely Shillingford, PhD, currently serves as the Director of Product Development at amika since August 2023, previously holding the role of Senior Manager of Product Development at Ro from November 2020 to August 2023. Cicely has extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams to create market-competitive products across skincare, hair care, supplements, and consumer health. Cicely's academic background includes a PhD in Chemistry from New York University, where research focused on the synthesis of complex colloidal architectures, as well as experience as a Graduate Instructor. Early research endeavors include work at the University of Waterloo in structural biochemistry and technology development at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard. Cicely's research has contributed to several innovations, including patented bio-inspired materials and advanced surface coatings.
