Stefan van Aalst has a diverse work experience. Stefan started their career as a Hands-on Consultant at e2e, where they worked on multiple projects related to employee/company scanning and collective pension selection. Stefan then joined Radboudumc as a Business Consultant & Project Manager for the Digital Research Environment (DRE), where they played a key role in conceptualizing and implementing the platform. Stefan later became the Chair of ISO/NEN Norm Commission for Project-, Programme-, and Portfolio Management at NEN, contributing to the professionalization of project management. Stefan also worked as a project leader for Life Science & Health projects at SURFsara. Additionally, Stefan worked as a Product Manager at RSRCH and as a Technisch Coördinator WP4 - Connecting Research at NFU - Data4LifeSciences. Prior to that, they were the owner of flow4U and worked as a QA for the programme Research Suite at Erasmus MC. Most recently, Stefan is serving as the Chief Technology Officer at anDREa B.V., overseeing the development of the Azure Digital Research Environment.

Stefan van Aalst obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Technische Bedrijfskunde from Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven in 1995. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Manufacturing Management from the University of Hertfordshire, where they completed their studies in 1996. In addition to their formal education, Stefan van Aalst has also acquired certifications such as Professional Scrum Product Owner I from Scrum.org in March 2018, and Green Project Management (GPM-b) from GPM Global in February 2014.

Our mission is to create a digital research environment (DRE) also known as a TRE or TPE (trusted research/processing environment) for every researcher.
