Erich Schmid has a diverse work experience in various companies. Erich joined Kumschick Sports Cars in 1992 as a "Rennmechaniker" and worked there until 1995. In 2000, they started working at Sauber Motorsport AG as a "Development Engineer Chassis" and later became the "Head of department 7-post rig" in 2001. From 2005 to 2010, they held the position of "Head Rig Testing". In 2011, Erich Schmid joined Angst+Pfister as a "Senior Engineer Antivibration" and later became the CTO in May 2013.

In 2012, they attended Fraunhofer Institut Bremen and completed a program called European Adhesive Specialist (EAS) in Kunststofftechnik/Verbundtechnik.
In 2016, Erich Schmid briefly studied at IMD, where they obtained a degree named FBL. However, the field of study for this degree is unknown.
