We are the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists of South Africa – a National Committee of APECS international, a non-profit and voluntary organization which focuses on improving communication between young polar researchers on a local and international level.

There is much more to know about our vision and mission, but being based in South Africa, our members are mostly involved in Southern Hemisphere polar research -in the sub-Antarctic (Marion Island), the Southern Ocean and in Antarctica -and covers a range of scientific disciplines. Anyone is welcome to become a member, and membership is free, even if you’re not from South Africa. We’ll keep you updated on anything in polar science: opportunities in skills development, travel funding, networking and conference opportunities – the lot!
