Kate (Siyuan) Liu has a diverse work experience in the financial industry. Kate (Siyuan) started their career at Piper Jaffray in 2012 as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst. In 2014, they interned at Credit Suisse in the Global Modelling and Analytics Group, where they developed an EXCEL VBA tool for analyzing market risk. Later that year, they also interned at Moody's Analytics as a Fall Intern. From 2015 to 2018, Kate worked at Goldman Sachs as an Associate. Finally, in 2018, they joined AQR Capital Management as a Global Stock Selection Researcher, where they are currently employed.

Kate (Siyuan) Liu holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Financial Engineering, which they obtained from Columbia University in 2014. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Economics degree in Mathematical Economics at Fudan University from 2009 to 2013. In 2011, they participated in the Reciprocal Education Abroad Program at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on Economics. Additionally, Kate has obtained several certifications, including being a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) in December 2018. Kate (Siyuan) also completed online courses in Machine Learning from Coursera in May 2015 and Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1 from Coursera in April 2015. Furthermore, Kate passed the CFA III exam administered by the CFA Institute in July 2014.
