Irina Markina serves as the Managing Director and Chief Decarbonization Officer at Ara Partners, focusing on global private equity in industrial decarbonization since April 2022. Additionally, Markina is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center, contributing to one of the leading policy research organizations since November 2018. Prior experience includes serving as Global Sustainability Manager at Baker Hughes, where responsibilities encompassed the development and execution of sustainability strategies from December 2020 to April 2022. Markina also held roles as Senior Energy Advisor and Senior Transportation and Energy Advisor at the Delegation of the European Union to the United States from December 2010 to December 2020, as well as a position assessing Climate, Energy, and Transportation Technology at the European Parliament in 2010. Markina's educational background includes executive education programs at The Wharton School and Harvard Business School, alongside master's and bachelor’s degrees in Public Policy and Political Science from Lund University and the University of Gothenburg, respectively, as well as studies at Vilnius University.
