Eric Tonui

Eric Tonui possesses extensive experience in technology commercialization and intellectual property management, holding key leadership roles at Aramco as Head of IP Licensing & Transactions Group and Head of Upstream Commercialization Group from July 2018 to May 2025. Prior to Aramco, Tonui served as Technology Commercialization Manager at BP from September 2011 to July 2018, where contributions included advising on intellectual asset strategies and implementing technology deployment strategies. Earlier positions include Senior Technology Commercialization/Licensing Officer at the University of California, Riverside, and Research Faculty and Lecturer at UCLA, where Tonui co-established a NASA-funded laboratory. Academic qualifications include an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a PhD in Earth Sciences from The Australian National University.
