Ian Chen has extensive work experience in the manufacturing and engineering field. Ian started their career as a Manufacturing Engineer (Co-op) at Mustang Survival in 2013 and later worked as a Product Development Engineer (Co-op) at SeaStar Solutions in 2014. In 2015, they returned to Mustang Survival as a Manufacturing Engineer and then took on the role of Team Lead, Manufacturing Engineer in 2017. In 2019, they joined Arc'teryx Equipment as a Manufacturing Engineer / Automation and Tooling. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Manufacturing Engineer | Pilot Plant Lead at Arc'teryx Equipment.
Ian Chen graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechatronics Systems Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, Ian obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) from the Six Sigma Global Institute in December 2022 and a Green Belt Certification (GB) from Cognitive Process Consulting Ltd. in September 2021. Ian also obtained an Incident Investigation certification from the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC - Nonprofit Health & Safety Association in September 2021.
