Lee M. Caplan

Lee M. Caplan is a partner at Arent Fox in Washington DC, specializing in international arbitration and dispute resolution, providing counsel to both private and sovereign clients on matters related to international dispute resolution, public international law, and international investment law and policy. Additionally, Lee has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching a course on international courts and tribunals, and previously at American University Washington College of Law, where Lee focused on International Business Transactions. Before joining Arent Fox, Lee was a Senior Attorney-Adviser at the U.S. Department of State, successfully representing the U.S. in various arbitrations, and clerked for both the Iran-US Claims Tribunal and the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Lee holds a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law, a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a Bachelor's Degree from Vanderbilt University.
