Abhijit Bhattacharyya

Inaugural Dean at Arkansas State University

Abhijit Bhattacharyya serves as the inaugural dean at Arkansas State University since July 2019. Prior to this role, Abhijit held multiple positions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, including Interim Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School from July 2016 to June 2019, and Associate Dean within the Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology. Abhijit also served as Interim Dean for the same college, leading a team of approximately 60 faculty members and 1,100 students from January 2011 to June 2015. Other academic experience includes a role as Associate Professor at the University of Alberta, and earlier positions at Texas A&M University and Rutgers University. Abhijit earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University, as well as an M.S. in Mechanics and Materials Science and a B.Tech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
