Liz Brown

Senior Design Researcher at Artefact

Liz Brown has been working in the field of design research since 2013. Liz began their career as a Directed Research Student at the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, followed by a Research Assistant role in 2014. In 2014, Liz also worked as a Program Instructor & Fellow at the Foundation of HOPE Allegheny County Jail, where they facilitated a rehabilitation course, conducted interviews with participants, and created human-centered curriculum. In the same year, Liz took on the role of Record Store Manager at The Exchange, where they directed a team of ten sales associates and created clever product displays. In 2016, Liz worked as a Civil Service Designer at the City of Richmond, Virginia, where they initiated a redesign of public housing records and implemented new departmental procedures. In 2019, Liz held multiple roles at the University of Michigan - School of Information, including Instructional Leader and UX Research Lead. In the same year, Liz also worked as a UX Researcher & Consultant at UMSI Design Consultancy, where they established the first Human-Centered Design consultancy at the University of Michigan and advised clients on user research strategy, protocol, and execution. In 2020, Liz worked as a UX Researcher at Shogun, followed by a Senior Design Researcher role at Artefact in 2021.

Liz Brown holds a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan, with a focus in Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience Research. Liz also holds a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
