Laura Hurlston has worked in various roles throughout their career. Laura started their career as an Accounts Receivable Clerk at Jouett Respiratory Therapist & Associates. Laura then interned at HSBC Cayman Islands during their breaks from university, where they worked as an Assistant Accountant in the Insurance and Trust Departments. Laura then joined HSBC as an Account Manager, where they handled client accounting records, produced financial statements, and coordinated meetings. Laura later joined Kane as an Account Manager after HSBC sold their Captive Insurance division, and eventually joined Artex Risk Solutions after Kane's insurance management operations were acquired by Artex. At Artex, Laura held the positions of Account Manager, Client Services Manager, and Associate Director - Client Services. Laura is an ACI and CPA.
Laura Hurlston, ACI, CPA holds an Associate of Captive Insurance from the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE), which they earned from 2018 to 2019. Laura completed their Master's Degree in Managerial Accounting at the University of North Texas from 2007 to 2008, and prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Control Systems from the same university from 2003 to 2007. Laura Hurlston completed their high school education at Triple C School from 1990 to 2003. Additionally, they have obtained certifications including Darkness to Light: Prevent Child Sexual Abuse from Steward's of Children (c/o Red Cross Cayman) in May 2016 and the Certified Public Accountant designation from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy in July 2011.
