Emre Karakoc

Emre Karakoc is a distinguished Senior Principal Scientist at Artios since June 2023, previously serving as Principal Bioinformatician at the Wellcome Sanger Institute from February 2018 to June 2023, where the focus was on developing computational methods for analyzing large-scale functional genomics datasets related to cancer. Prior experience includes roles as Assistant Professor at Medipol University, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, University of Washington, and University of Waterloo, as well as Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University and Teaching Assistant at Case Western Reserve University. Emre's academic qualifications include a PhD from Simon Fraser University and a PhD in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree from Bilkent University. Research interests encompass computational biology, structural variation detection, RNA-Seq analysis, and genetic dependencies in cancer.
