Surya Bhattacharya has extensive experience in the field of microelectronics and wafer foundry engineering. Surya served as the Director of System in Package at the Institute of Microelectronics starting in 2011. Prior to that, they were the Director of Wafer Foundry Engineering at Qualcomm from 2004 to 2011. Before joining Qualcomm, they worked at Broadcom as a Principal Engineer in Global Foundry Management from 2000 to 2004. Bhattacharya began their career at Rockwell Semiconductor Systems in 1993, where they held the position of Senior Manager in CMOS Technology Development until 2000.

Surya Bhattacharya's education history is as follows:

From 1981 to 1983, Surya Bhattacharya attended National College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore-4(Autonomous) where they obtained a Pre University degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

From 1983 to 1987, Surya Bhattacharya studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they earned a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Electrical Engineering.

From 1988 to 1993, Surya Bhattacharya pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.

In addition to their formal education, in December 2017, Surya Bhattacharya obtained certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
