Sam Wight

Sam Wight is an accomplished aerospace engineering professional with extensive experience in spacecraft development and engineering management. Currently serving as the Technical Director for Block 2 Spacecraft at Astranis since January 2017, Sam oversees program management and technical communications with customers, while managing spacecraft development budgets. Previously, Sam held roles as the Lead Mechanical Engineer and Senior Mechanical Engineer at Astranis, where responsibilities included leading mechanical and thermal teams, overseeing spacecraft design and testing, and mentoring emerging talent. Prior experience at SpaceX included positions such as Senior Mechanical Engineer and Structures Manager, where Sam contributed to the design and development of vehicles for Mars missions and payload accommodations for the Falcon 9 rocket. Sam's academic credentials include a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
