Ming Li

Director Technology, Specialty Rolled Products at ATI

Ming Li has extensive work experience in the field of research and development, particularly in the areas of technology and product development for various industries.

Starting in 1995, Ming worked at Alcoa in different roles such as Engineer, Manager, and Division Manager, where they were responsible for overseeing global rolled product businesses and managing the Global Rolled Product Technology Review Board. Ming also served as the Head of Alcoa China Technical Center and played a key role in driving innovation and formulating business strategies in China.

In 2021, Ming joined Saint-Gobain Research North America as the Director of Research and Development, focusing on super abrasive products and their commercialization worldwide. This role involved working on projects related to next-generation semiconductors, aerospace engines, and EV gears and transmissions.

Prior to joining Saint-Gobain, Ming worked at Arconic, where they held several positions, including Director of Research and Development for Process Technology and Global Rolled Product and Extrusions. Ming was also responsible for research and development in the areas of transportation, construction solutions, and global rolled products.

Most recently, starting from 2022, Ming is serving as the Director of Technology for Specialty Rolled Products at ATI.

Ming Li holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China, which was awarded in 1986. Ming then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Engineering Mechanics and Materials from Peking University, completing it in 1990. Ming further advanced their education by obtaining a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Florida between 1990 and 1993. In 2006, Ming Li attended the MIT Sloan School of Management, earning an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership in 2007.
