Leifur Thorbergsson has work experience in various roles and companies. Leifur worked at Audatic as a Research Engineer starting in September 2020. Prior to that, Leifur was a Senior Data Scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2014 to 2019, where they worked on building advanced web applications for medical professionals and used NLP techniques to extract clinical information from textual data. Leifur also participated in the Insight Data Science fellowship program in New York City in 2014 and worked as a Machine Learning Research Intern at Bosch in 2013.
Leifur Thorbergsson pursued their education in a methodical manner, starting with their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Háskóli Íslands, which they completed between the years 2005 and 2008. Following that, they continued their academic journey at Cornell University, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Statistics from 2008 to 2014.

They are building systems to intelligently modify sound using state of the art deep learning technology and unique datasets. Their personalized sound environment allows users to customize sounds to their individual tastes. Applications include effortless interactions in noisy places (especially for people with hearing impairments), and realisticaudio-environments for augmented reality.
