Ian Lane has held a variety of roles in their career. In 2010, they began working as a Consultant, Director, Investment Director, Principal, and Associate at Unilever Ventures. In 2016, they became a Non Executive Director at Blis. In 2019, they joined Discuss.io as a Non Executive Director. In 2021, they became a Partner at Cambridge Innovation Capital and a Non Executive Director at Salience Labs and AudioTelligence. In 2022, they joined Cambridge GaN Devices Ltd as a Non Executive Director, Unlikely AI as an Investor, and Secondmind as a Non Executive Director.

Ian Lane obtained a PhD in Chemistry/Physics from the University of Cambridge in 2006, following a Msci in Chemistry from the University of Bristol in 2003.
