Shaun Nel

Shaun Nel is a seasoned professional in the refractory industry, currently serving as a Senior Refractory Engineer at Aurubis since August 2022, focusing on the development of refractory materials across the global group. Previously, Shaun was a Project Management Professional at RHI Magnesita, where responsibilities included customer development and project coordination from design to commissioning. Shaun has also held roles as Technical Manager at Aceria de Angola, where cost reduction and operational optimization were achieved, and as Contracts Manager at both Shisa Umoya Solutions and Natal Refractories, overseeing customer relationships and project management in insulation and refractory installations. Early career experience includes serving as an Assistant Project Manager at TAB Refractories/Pyrotek. Shaun holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master in Management and Team Management, a Master of Project Management, and an MBA from ENEB, along with additional training from the Management and Strategy Institute.
