Position Summary

Austin Retina Associates is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to help us provide unparalleled patient satisfaction by maintaining patients’ medical records with accuracy under the direct supervision of the physician.

Duties

  • Maintain patients’ medical records with accuracy under the physician's direct supervision. Note and code diagnoses, lab results, and treatments in the EMR system.
  • Assist physicians throughout his or her clinic and serve as a personal assistant to help the physician be more efficient and productive. Respond to messages from internal staff.
  • Review charts and alert physicians when not complete or consistent.
  • Collect and correctly complete all measures for MIPS and proper submission of ERX.
  • Assist in maintaining patient follow-up, education, and quality of care.
  • Attend training on various subjects including coding, legal and regulatory compliance, billing/reimbursement, and the ability to quickly assimilate to new processes and procedures.
  • Additional meetings and training are required. Compliance with OSHA and HIPPA is a must, as is adherence to Austin Retina Associates' emergency and safety protocol.
  • Be willing and able to do patient intake (“workup”) when needed.

Required Attributes

  • Experience with medical scribing in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel to satellite clinics (day trips) regularly.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to type at least 55 WPM
  • Excellent communication and grammar
  • Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork
  • Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective patient problem resolution, warm demeanor)
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with physicians, coworkers, and patients
  • Reliability and availability to the physician while working in the clinic, including some early mornings and late evenings
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Position Details

  • Schedule assigned by supervisor and can vary
  • Frequent day trips within Central Texas
  • Hourly pay (FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime)

Physical Requirements

Sitting up to 8 hours a day; standing and walking for extended periods; talking and hearing both in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, and feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 15 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices constantly with prolonged periods of data entry.
