Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI)
Paul Bates has extensive work experience in the naval and defense industry. Paul currently holds the role of Chief Operating Officer at Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI), a position they have held since April 2023. Prior to this, Paul served as the General Manager Operations at Australian Naval Infrastructure starting from July 2017. Paul has also held multiple roles at Defence SA, including General Manager Infrastructure from July 2016 to July 2017, General Manager Techport CUF from May 2012 to June 2016, and Operations Manager and Dock Master from February 2009 to May 2012. Before joining Defence SA, Paul worked as a Project Manager and Business Analyst at DMS Maritime from November 2006 to January 2009.
Paul Bates completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Tasmania in 2019. Prior to that, they attended the Australian Defence Force Academy from 1989 to 1991.

Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is placing Australia at the forefront of naval infrastructure capability. A nation-building commitment by the Government of Australia, ANI is responsible for the expansion and modernisation of the Osborne Naval Shipyard to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for the domestic manufacture of world class naval vessels. ANI achieves this through the effective ownership and management of facilities such as the Osborne Naval Shipyard. Currently, ANI is developing new and modernising existing infrastructure to facilitate naval vessel construction and upgrades for the Royal Australian Navy.
