Derrick Tan

Derrick Tan is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in software development and technology management. Currently serving as VP of Engineering for Global UI at Avalara since June 2019, Derrick previously held the position of Head of Technology at Allscripts and VP of Engineering at Practice Fusion, where multiple engineering roles were undertaken, including Director of Test Engineering and Sr Director of Test and DevOps Engineering. Prior to these roles, Derrick worked at Microsoft-Mediaroom as a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test Lead, overseeing the delivery of innovative TV services while fostering an agile team environment. Derrick began a career in technology as a Software Engineer Intern at Future Technology Labs and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia.
