Mike Rie

Mike Rie is a highly experienced real estate professional currently serving as Senior Director of Investments at AvalonBay Communities since June 2012, overseeing acquisitions, asset management, and dispositions of multifamily communities from New York to Boston. Prior to this role, Mike held the position of Director of Investments at AvalonBay, managing similar responsibilities within a more localized market. Mike's earlier experience includes serving as Associate Director of Acquisitions at Intercontinental Real Estate Corp, where responsibilities encompassed sourcing and closing $1 billion in transactions across various property sectors in major U.S. cities. Mike began a career in real estate as an Acquisitions Associate at Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, and also held positions at Bonz & Company and Quincy 2000. Academically, Mike holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
